Freaknik 2010

A large police presence in downtown Atlanta seems to have calmed the crowds at this weekend's Freaknik events, WSB-TV reported. So far, police are reporting no major problems with this year's event.

"We're out here Freaknik 2010," said Josh Matthews, Freaknik attendee. "My buddy gave me a new word though, he called hit ‘Copnik.' I'm calling it that."

Atlanta Police have said that more officers would be on the streets. One man was arrested for hitting a police officer, but on the whole Freaknik has been very peaceful, police said.

"That was our obligation and that's our charge as the Atlanta Police Department to make sure that people can come into the city and be safe, and that's what has occurred thus far this weekend," said George Turner, APD Interim Police Chief.

Freaknik wraps up Sunday night at Underground Atlanta.
