Dawgs Ranked 7th in First BCS Standing of the Season

The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked seventh in the very first BCS Standing of the 2008 College Football Season. Texas is number one on the list. Knowshon Moreno Named SEC Offensive Player Of The Week

University of Georgia redshirt sophomore tailback Knowshon Moreno has been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the league office.

Moreno, a 5-11, 208-pound native of Belford, N.J., recorded a season-high 172 yards rushing and one touchdown on 23 carries during the Bulldogs 24-14 win over #22 Vanderbilt over the weekend. This was Moreno’s 10th career game rushing for more than 100 yards.

Moreno, who averaged 7.5 yards per carry against Vanderbilt, also became the 13th player in school history to surpass 2,000 yards rushing in a career. He currently sits at the No. 10 spot with 2,096 yards. Moreno leads the SEC in scoring at 9.43 points per game.

Georgia Football Practice Notes: Wednesday October 22, 2008

Athens, Ga. - The No. 9-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (6-1, 3-1 SEC) practiced in jerseys, shorts, shoulder pads and helmets for 90 minutes Wednesday, and the good news was nobody got hurt.

After practice, Georgia head coach Mark Richt announced that Bulldog sophomore linebacker Akeem Hebron went down during Tuesday's session and will miss the remainder of the season due to a fracture dislocation of the left ankle. Also, injuries continue to mount at tight end as redshirt freshman Aron White sprained his right shoulder Tuesday and will not play Saturday against No. 11 LSU (5-1, 3-1 SEC). White's status will be evaluated week to week.

UGA-LSU to Kickoff at 3:30 p.m. Eastern

This coming weekend's big SEC game between Georgia and LSU in Baton Rouge will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET. The Georgia Bulldogs Radio Network will take the air with the Verizon Wireless Tailgate Show at 12:30 p.m. The program, hosted by Neil Williamson, Loran Smith and Eric Zeier will be followed by the kickoff with Scott Howard.
